Description: CHU stands for Contiguous Habitat Unit, a designation developed by Arrowwood Environmental. CHUs are amagamated habitat areas built from a variety of appropriate habitat inputs. Component data developed for this project make up all of the inputs to the CHU areas. Comonents include: Core Forest, Forested Riparian Habitat, Wetlands, Deer Winter Habitat and Early Succession Habitats. All of these components are merged, and any resulting polygon areas less than 100 acres are eliminated. The remaining areas are considered large and diverse assemblages of habitat able to mee the needs of a variety of wildlife species.
Description: Hard mast stands- derived from the following: 1. Project NCLC dataset, natural communities with oak as a major component species. 2. Information provided by community and public input on known mast stands. 3. Information provided by the Vt. Department of Fish and Wildlife on known mast stands. 4. Mast stands idenified in the field during the course of the STA project.
