Description: Early Succession habitat areas as extracted from project NCLC dataset. This extraction includes areas mapped as early succession or shrubland as well as wetlands typed as old field or otherwise flagged as structurally shrubby or young forest.
Description: Forested riparian areas- derived the VCGI Vermont Hydrographic Dataset stream centerlines and project generated NCLC dataset. Stream centerlines were buffered by 50 meters resulting in a 100 meter swath. Areas mapped as non-forest communities in the NCLC dataset were then erased. Any resulting polygons that did not make contact with a stream line were deleted to leave contiguous forested areas along stream channels.
Name: STA - Grassland Habitat (management dependant)
Display Field: UniqueId
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: Grassland areas extracted from the Project NCLC dataset. These areas were defined only through orthophoto intepretation as potenially providing grassland bird habitat. Habitat conditions are highly dependent on land managment practices on a year to year basis.
Name: STA - Potential Ledge/Cliff/Talus (slope-based)
Display Field: SOURCE
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: Likely ledge, cliff or talus areas, based on topographical analysis using VCGI's 10 meter Digital Elevation model for Vermont and natural communities identified as outcrops or cliffs.
Description: Hard mast stands- derived from the following: 1. Project NCLC dataset, natural communities with oak as a major component species. 2. Information provided by community and public input on known mast stands. 3. Information provided by the Vt. Department of Fish and Wildlife on known mast stands. 4. Mast stands idenified in the field during the course of the STA project.
Description: Potential wildlife travel corridors. Manually placed travel corridor zones determined based on data developed during the course of the project. See project documentation for methodology decsription.
