Description: Land cover was mapped for Chittenden County at a 1-meter resolution using newly acquired lidar data, along with leaf off ortho imagery and leaf on imagery provided by the National Agriculture Imagery Program, along with existing ancilliary vector datasets provided by the state of Vermont. It is the first 1-meter resolution land-cover dataset for Chittenden County. This dataset represents a 900-fold increase in the size of output land-cover dataset that had previously been mapped for this region through the National Land Cover Database. Land cover was mapped using advanced object-based image analysis techniques using high-performance computing. A detailed accuracy assessment was carried out and the overall accuracy was 91%.Classes:1 - Deciduous Forest2 - Coniferous Forest3 - Herbaceous Forest4 - Shrub wetland5 - Water6 - Emergent wetland7 - Scrub/Shrub8 - Forest wetland9 - Crops10 - Pasture11 - Hay12 - Barren13 - Buildings14 - Roads/Railroads15 - Other Impervious
